Let’s talk about hope.

Imagine you’ve taken a gnarly spill down the side of a mountain while you were on a therapeutic dawn hike.  Your leg is cactus, you won’t be walking on that flesh-coloured bag of mashed potato.  You ended up out here on an impulse at first light and no one knows you’re here.

So now what kumquat?

There are a few ideas to entertain…  Can you drag yourself and that over-cooked-noodle of a leg back to civilisation?  Will some other soul searcher be trekking by these parts any time soon?  Maybe the wonder of modern tech has you covered and your mobile phone can coo-ee within the limited range of reception on the dark side of the mountain.

Any of these ideas will give you the strength to go on, and all of these ideas represent hope.

Hope breaks the chains of helplessness and gives you the power to keep on pushing. In your darkest moment, if you locate a single glimmering skerrick of hope you will go on to see that possibility through.  Send in your journal musings about HOPE and your words might appear as our feature post!

Want some more inspo?  Check out this incredible, thought-provoking podcast by Martin Seligman on Radio National from 2018 here (and because you’ll probably love it and need to hear more I’ll leave part 2 here), if nothing else his teddy bear voice will make you feel all fuzzy.

What is expect after having that accident after going for a run would be to wake up from my dream, because it’s very unlikely I’d ever be going for a dawn run ha ha ha
